In his quieter times, he enjoyed reading and coin collecting, but most importantly, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Bertha and Tom lived in Olathe before moving to Nucla in 1952.
Surviving Frank are his beloved wife, Ruby Gonzales of Dolores; his children: Frankie Gonzales and wife, Debbie, of Dolores; Mickey Gonzales of Cortez; and Lisa Tozer and husband, Bruce, of Mc Elmo Canyon; seven grandchildren: Kendra Watkins and husband, Cameron, of Gilbert, Ariz.; Jeremy Gonzales of Gilbert; Joseph Michael Gonzales and Shane Ross Gonzales of Lewis; Alesha Tozer and Sandy Tozer of Mc Elmo Canyon; and Mitchell Hoffman of Grand Junction; and one great-grandchild, Kyle Watkins of Gilbert. Her husband and a child, Herb, preceded Bertha in death.
Memorial services for Cortez resident Melvin Charles Carlson will be held at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made in the name of Melvin Carlson to the American Heart Association. Iris Bessie Neely James Lifelong Cahone resident Iris Bessie Neely James died Wednesday, April 21, 2004, at the age of 90. Iris is survived by her sister, Fern Proffer of Albuquerque; a son, Norman James and wife, Wilma, of Cahone; six grandchildren: Le Moyne and Charles Bradfield; Cherrie and Dwayne Garchar; Connie and Dennis Cannon; Bryan and Pegean James; David and Denise James; Matthew and Jennifer James; 13 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and a large extended family. He enjoyed mechanical work, driving tractors and Spanish music.
